Half Day Bagdarah crocodile nature reserve

Our journey to Bagdarah takes us past the pyramid towers created as the hand made bricks are stacked up & fired in this type of kiln Many of our homes are built from this brick as people move from building with animal manure, mud and straw.

We arrive at the entrance to Bagdarah where a 15 minute drive through the forest takes us to the parking area inside the reserve. The first hut is at this location and a lovely view of the lake where crocodiles will be seen swimming across the lake. You now have a choice. I can take you around the reserve using transport or you can walk the circular route of approx. 4km, or walk & ride. The path is natural soil/rock and not difficult to walk along. There are a few small uphill sections but nothing strenuous with huts evenly spaced out along the way to provide viewing areas and shade.

This is a stunning natural forest where many birds can be seen in the trees and by the lake side. Birds such as Spoonbills, Black head Ibis, Indian Grey Hornbill, Shrikes, Bee eaters, King fishers & Indian Rollers.

Wild pigs, mongoose and deer can also be seen here if you are quiet. The lake holds the largest number of Mugger crocodiles in the Udaipur area. These crocodiles can be seen basking on the rocks & banks or swimming across the lake.

If you wish to walk around on your own please do not go down to the lake edge, please keep to the foot path. I can walk around with you also if you wish.

Our journey back towards Udaipur takes us past Udai Sagar Lake home to many migratory birds, often you will see a group of pelicans close to the shore.
